This website (TheFretwells.com) is dedicated to Marion Fretwell, whom we honored while he was still living; age 91+ in 2010. He passed away in March, 2015 at age 96.
For over 20 years Marion researched and compiled the genealogical record of the Fretwell family. He corresponded with numerous genealogical researchers to compile the names and history of 1348 ancestors, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and subsequent generations. His records went from the present day back to 1708 with a high degree of certainty.
Marion wrote most of the remembrances (found on this website) about his brothers and sisters, and about his mother and father, William and Fannie Fretwell. He also wrote his remembrance of his Uncle Grover, brother to his father, William.
Thereafter, he found time to write several stories about growing up on the family farm in Idaho, all of which are also on this website. Many of his nieces and nephews have commented about how much they enjoy these glimpses of their parent's early life, growing up on the farm.
The extended family owes Marion a great debt of gratitude for his efforts to record the family genealogy, family history and family stories. Few families have such a rich written heritage to pass on to successive generations of their family.
As stated elsewhere, this website has two parts, this public part requiring no login, and a private part that requires a username and password. The genealogy in this public section is truncated; that is, the names and other details about all living persons have been removed. Thus, you can get a good look at our Fretwell ancestors, but not at current generations.
If you are a Fretwell with sufficient credentials to convince us that you have a legitimate, non-commercial interest in our family line, contact us, and we might give you access to the restricted portions of the website.
